Gaynor Hunter

Gaynor has had a successful international career in the Hospitality industry managing hotel resorts and restaurants around the world in the Caribbean, the USA and the UK for over twenty years and holds a Master’s degree in Hospitality Management from the prestigious university of Houston’s Conrad Hilton School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. She also has a BA in communication studies from a leading UK university, and is a fully qualified TESOL tutor with a specialism in Business English. She is a certified project manager.

She has been responsible for managing and training large teams in facilitating superior customer service and exceeding guest expectations in hotels and restaurants in the UK, The USA and the Caribbean.

She has a keen interest in organizational theories and the role that culture plays in the global economy, along with the rapid advances in technology. She is a sought-after contributor to various blogs and magazines, writing about the latest trends in Hospitality and Tourism.

She now runs her own English mentoring business from her home office in a lovely village in the Northwest of England and coaches’ international executives, managers and business studies students to develop their language skills to facilitate better communication amongst international teams

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the tutoring and coaching sessions held?

All classes are held on Zoom and last 55 minutes- if you don’t have a zoom account yet please sign up here Sign Up Free – Zoom

You will be sent a link a couple of days before your class and any reading materials or videos associated with the subject matter for you to review beforehand if you wish. Classes are centred around trending business topics and world current events and news. Your classes can also be customized to meet your needs and target specific areas for improvement.

Are the tutors and coaches qualified?

Gaynor holds a Master’s degree in Hospitality Management and a BA in Communication studies, as well as further certificates in project management, TESOL, teaching English as a second language and a Business English certificatiation. She has been teaching online for over five years and has a long corporate career in senior management roles and consultancy in the hotel and restaurant industry for over twenty years. She is a well respected professional who has a reputation for high standards and guaranteeing succesul outcomes for her clients and students.

How often are the sessions held?

The frequency of your lessons depends entirely on you! If you need to learn faster and your schedule allows, you can have an intensive programme. We do require at a minimum one 55-minute session per week for optimal progress. We also recommend that you have a regular time slot on the same day each week to establish a routine for us both. This means you have enough time to consolidate what you are learning between lessons and allows reinforcement from your mentor regularly. If you want to make rapid progress then a minimum of two classes per week are recommended

How much will my lessons cost - How do I pay ?

You will be provided with an invoice for the month ahead and the balance is due no later than the first of each month to reserve your regular time slot. You can pay via Paypal or Stripe directly from the website.

Gaynor sometimes offers discounts of up to 10% if you buy a package of 12 classes in advance. Please enquire if any offers are available currently. Once you sign up for a regular time slot and 1 to 1 classes, you will be expected to take classes for a minimum of three months and a minimum of twelve classes in order to achieve your goals. If you no longer wish to renew your classes after the three months or suspend your studies at any time, then 30 days notice is required, once you are enrolled onto the programme.

What is the cancellation policy ?

We understand that sometimes life gets in the way and you may need to cancel classes occassionally. Please give 24 hours notice to cancel your scheduled class and we can reschedule your class again, as long as it is within the same month or before the expiration date of your package.

This ensures that you stay on target and do the optimum of four classes required per month. Gaynor only works with students who are committed, curious and determined to succeed and achieve their goals, so please take your classes seriously, be punctual and prepared.

How do I sign-up for lessons?

Being our newest student is easy! Contact us by email at info@businessenglishmentor.com, please indicate a couple of options for your preferred time scale of scheduled classes, your time zone and a little information about yourself, your job and what you are hoping to achieve from your classes. Alternatively you can complete the introductory document attached here (hyperlink) and send it along with your first email to info@businessenglishmentor.com to speed up the enrollment process.

What can I expect from the first lesson?

We will spend the first fifteen minutes getting to know each other and discussing your needs and goals and then we will dive straight in to our lesson and introduce you to the topic and target vocabulary.

Your first three months of classes will be recorded and put in your own private Google drive, so that you will be able to review and watch them again in your own time. The recordings are a helpful tool in assessing your progress along the way.

Your Google drive will also be uploaded weekly with a corresponding document that includes the targeted vocabulary from your class -15 words per class- and you will be expected to review the dictionary definitions and to be able to construct sentences using that vocabulary in your next class. This method is proven to reinforce and rapidly expand the vocabulary you learnt in your class and enrich your understanding of how words are used in different contexts.

Can my classes be customized to meet my needs ?

Yes, of course, your mentor can work with you based upon your needs, perhaps you want to improve your writing skills such as emails and report writing, or you have an important presentation coming up and want to practice your delivery beforehand. You may be applying to Business School and want assistance with the application process or want some feedback on academic writing for your educational studies. Simply email your mentor and let her know what you are trying to achieve and hoping to accomplish and she will customize classes to help you solve your issues and give you clarity on how to move forward.

I’m a Beginner and new to studying English, can you help me ?

Yes, I can help you, it is never too late to learn anything ! Your mentor has worked with many adults and mature students, who do not have a strong grammatical foundation of the English language or have simply forgotten it over the years and now need a fast track grammar programme to communicate effectively for their job. Don’t worry, we will start at the beginning and put you through a grammar bootcamp, that will give you a solid foundation, and expand into more conversational style classes, to help you use your new found capabilities with the language and strive to expand your vocabulary with each and every class.

What can I expect from the Master Interview Technique Classes ?

This is a premium service that guarantees results, but does require you to put in the time and effort in order to achieve your goals. Your mentor will review your CV/Resume if required and help you to construct thoughtful and compelling cover letters. She will then guide you through the top ten traditional questions asked in interviews, as well as over twenty five behavioural questions you may likely be asked.

She will give you insight to the six traits and characteristics that Human Resocurce professionals are looking for during the interview process and help you to avoid any pitfalls and mistakes, that could result in you being eliminated as a candidate. Towards the end of the programme, you will have live role play interview classes to help you prepare for the actual interview and be provided with real live feedback on your performance.

These classes must be purchased as a package of twelve classes in order to cover all of the relevant material, to ensure a successful outcome. It is recommended that you take two classes a week over six weeks to complete the programme.

Can I book one class only as and when I need it ?

Yes, you can book one class only as and when required, however this will be subject to your mentor’s availability and schedule, she will do her best to try and meet your preferred time, but this isnt always possible, as priority is given to students who have a regular ongoing time slot and are on the 1 to 1, three month minimum mentoring programme stand alone classes are at a higher price point.

Will I receive a certificate or qualification?

No, you will receive real-world functional English to advance your language skills within your role. Our clients do not need another certificate to hang on their wall, they need practical English skills to communicate more effectively within an English-speaking context. We can give you a glowing reference to show you have attended an elite Business English language course if you require one.
